Who is Theatricks?
Theatricks was founded in 1989 right here in Frederick and was a partner with Dance Unlimited at the original Performing Arts Factory. Now one of it's co-founders, Tom Dougherty, has returned from extensive touring and is reviving the company, excited to be a part of the vibrancy of this new Performing Arts Factory. Theatricks' focus is circus education for all and the blending of circus and theater towards the creation of a youth performing troupe to serve and entertain the Frederick community and beyond.
Co-founder & Artistic Director
Tom has captivated audiences in theaters and circuses as an award winning performing artist all across the world. He has been a featured performer on the Big Apple Circus, Cirque du Soleil and as one of only a handful of clown eccentrics to headline the Ringling Bros. Barnum and Bailey show in it's 140 year history. His solo theater show has been presented in Wolf Trap, the National Theater, Lincoln Center and the Meyerhoff as well as several international venues. Tom's passion for performance began at the renowned Neighborhood Playhouse in New York where he studied acting under legendary acting mentor, Sanford Meisner. Following graduation, he perfected his skills at the Ringling Bros. Clown College and then studied LeCoq method of movement with Dody DiSanto before joining her performance troupe, Membrane. His teaching credits include the Baltimore Schools for the Arts, Ringling Bros. Clown College and Academie Fratellini in Paris. He served as performance director for Circus Harmony, St. Louis' renowned social circus and circus arts school and as artistic director of Circus Chimera.

Mark is a former student and company member of the original Theatricks troupe and has since been wowing global audiences for more than 2 decades with his unique blend of slapstick vaudeville baggy pants comedy and circus arts. An entertainer who has fine tuned his act by entertaining audiences across North America, he is at home plying his trade in the streets of Baltimore to the beaches of L.A., from the stages of restored vaudeville houses to the stage of the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, as well as the Kimtom International Clown Festival in Shanghai, China. As an instructor, he has been developing and conducting unique circus arts residencies in schools and summer camps up and down the east coast.
Asst. Artistic Director & Instructor
Kevin, a native of Baltimore, made his break into show business at the age of 17 street performing at Baltimore's famed Inner Harbor. After graduating from high school he attended the world famous Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College where he was chosen to perform and travel with The Greatest Show on Earth. Kevin eventually ran away from the circus and joined a home. Since leaving the circus Kevin has appeared globally with his amazing antic-driven comedy. With appearances in Shanghai China, the White House and Frederick's Summerfest Theatre. As an instructor Kevin has coached thousands of students in school residency programs, summer camps and oncology outreach programs in the North East US.
Tracey Wilson DeGirolamo
Aerial Arts Instructor
Tracey is a 4th generation circus performer of the renowned Wilson Family. The Wilson Family, a name well known throughout the circus world with her family’s circus career dating as far back as the early 1900’s, and recently awarded a bronze plaque for their contribution to the circus world at the 2012 Circus Ring of Fame in Sarasota Florida. Tracey has performed & traveled throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and overseas, performing a variety of circus acts from rolling Globe to flying trapeze. Tracey debuted in her family’s aerial act when she was 9 years old, and performed aerial artistry for over 20 years. Tracey DeGirolamo originally from Florida, moved to Frederick with her husband & 3 kids 9 years ago. After taking a break from the road and raising her 3 kids, Tracey is now eager to pass on her knowledge of aerial artistry and the responsibilities & self-discipline she learned while traveling & performing on the road for over 20 years.
