Why Circus Arts? While you might pick up a skill or two to impress your friends, circus arts are more than party tricks. Our partner organization, Theatricks, promotes life skills through the practice and performance of circus arts.
PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT – Theatricks embraces the philosophy that there is something for everyone, regardless of skill set.
SELF-DISCIPLINE – Students develop self-discipline and perseverance in facing daily challenges presented to them.
TEAMWORK – We create a culture of teamwork in which all students play an equal role.
SELF-EXPRESSION – It’s an outlet for managed risk taking, creativity and team building.
Bring the whole family!

Theatricks has been enriching lives since the LATE 80’s founded in Frederick MD. We teach skills such as juggling, wire walking, clowning, and much much more! Theatricks is led by veteran circus performer Mark Lohr. Mark’s circus arts career started with the start of Theatricks. He was trained by the company to wow audiences with circus skills while bringing the laughs with a unique style of slapstick and physical comedy. His circus background includes The Carden International Circus, Ringling and Cirque de Sole as well as on the stages of the Myerhoff Symphony Hall and the Kennedy Center. His 30-plus years as a performer have been very successful but what has truly driven him is the two-fold mission of Theatricks.1. To entertain with circus arts and 2. To teach and uplift with circus arts! Together with his team of Lohrs Gena 25, Grace 23, and Grant 16 (who have all been involved with the circus since they were knee-high to a grasshopper!) they teach and inspire with a mixture of hard work and zany silliness!!

Run away and join the circus without actually leaving home! Juggling, plate spinning, and stilt walking are just a few of the circus techniques you will learn in this very hands-on, full-day, weeklong experience. Mark Lohr, head Theatricks coach, has been involved in circus performance and education for nearly 30 years and has toured the U.S. with the George Carden International Circus. In addition to his vast experience, he brings along his teenage and adult children who have grown up in the program and now teach and perform together in the family show, Laugh Out Lohr (LOL)! The week will wrap up with a culminating performance where students show off their hard work, new skills and hilarity to friends and family. Price for this full day class includes Lunch Bunch: Bring Your Own Lunch.
